Scope
We at Cherrytree Bakery recognise our responsibly to respect human rights and our ability to positively contribute towards the impact that human rights hold within our industry. Our Chairman, Managing Director and Senior Management team adhere to the initiative promoted by the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), which encourages respect for Human Rights for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion as stipulated in the United Nations Charter.
Purpose
Human Rights is a growing area of importance to our employees, workers, shareholders, suppliers, customers, consumers, the community where we operate and civil society groups, as well as overseas communities, which we support with building school initiatives within deprived coffee growing communities.
Within our own business we support the principles contained within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and are a member of the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX). As a responsible employer we strictly uphold the International Labour Organisations (ILO) core labour standards as long as this is not explicitly prohibited by applicable law and the 10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact. We encompass these in our Ethical Trading and Social Policy, Environmental Policy, Respect at work policy, Child and Young Persons Policy, Anti-Slavery, Forced and Bonded Labour Policy and our Equal Opportunities Policy.
Compliance
Cherrytree Bakery will always seek to do business with customers and suppliers who share our values with respect to Human Rights. We strive to carry out appropriate due diligence and encourage these businesses to maintain high ethical standards and practices by being members of SEDEX.
Employees and suppliers are expected to comply with this statement and all relevant policies. Any violations of the relevant policies or this statement or refusal to co-operate will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination and referral to the appropriate authorities, where we have sound reason to believe that these businesses infringe Human Rights we reserve the right to cease those relationships as warranted.
